Step 1: Place Windows XP CD in your computer’s optical CD or DVD drive.
Step 2. Restart the computer, enter into BIOS setting(can be initiated by pressing Delete or F1 key) and set Optical drive as first boot device and again save the settings and restart the PC.
Step 3: Once your PC get’s restarted, a message will appear on your screen saying Press any key to boot from CD…, press any key on your keyboard to start the setup
Step 4: Now wait for about 10 minutes and let installation file be loaded.
Step 5: If your CD is not damaged, you will be now seeing a Windows XP Setup screen with Repair and Install option,
Since we are interested toInstall Windows XP, press Enter key on your keyboard.
Setep 6: Now a License Agreement would be presented on screen, press F8 to agree it and continue the setup
Step 7: Now you will be seeing 3 or more Partition on your screen, depending on how many Local Disks you had created
Step 8: Highlight and select the Partition which is at the top, Normally this is Local Disk C and Windows should be installed here
Step 9: Highlight the top most partition(C:) and press D, this will delete all the Data on Local Disk C and Delete the Partition
Step 10: Now if asked, pressL to confirm deletion of C:
Step 11: Now you will be seeing an unpartitioned space, highlight it using navigation arrow keys on keyboard and press C and create partition
Step 12: Once it get created, Highligh C: again and press Enter to Install Windows XP on C:
Step 13: Select Format the partition using NTFS file system. If your Hard Disk has previously formated with NTFS than you can select Quick NTFS.
Step 14: Windows will now copy the files and will restart computer automatically after files get copied, this may take about 20 minutes
Step 15: When computer will restart automatically you will be again asked for “Press any key to boot from CD”, this time don’t press any key and let setup continue
Step 16: Now setup will install Windows XP, after few minutes you would be asked for Language, Name and other Options
Step 17: Choose your Country or Region and language,press Next
Step 18: In next windows, type your Name and organization, if any, press Next
Step 19: Enter Product Key, CD Key of Windows XP and then press Next
Step 20: Name your computer like you want, and set an Administrator Password, don’t forget the password, press Next
Step 21: Select the Date and Time settings, and press Next
Step 22: If you are asked for network, then select typical and enter a domain name, if you don’t have a domain name leave it blank and press Next button
Step 23: Now wait for few minutes your computer will restart after setup has been continued, again don’t press any key if “Press any key to boot from CD” appears on your screen
Step 24: Now Windows will start, a Welcome Screen will appear
Step 25: Choose ‘help protect my PC by turning on automatic updates now’ and press Next
